Kingston Sustainability Centre wins Canadian Eco-Leader Award!

After receiving a number of strong applications that highlighted a varying range of local sustainability and environmental projects across the country, Bosch is happy to announce the recipient of the 2010 Canadian Eco-Leader Award.

The Kingston Sustainability Centre (KSC) is a resource hub in Kingston, Ontario that works to inspire and energize the local community to take action in their journey towards becoming Canada’s Most Sustainable City.

The KSC is a privately funded, grassroots, youth-led organization that delivers a central platform to unite and harness the energy of Kingston’s youth as the catalyst of change. The organization encourages an operating strategy of walk the talk– an initiative focused on the community, education and actionable attitudes and behaviours that foster individual responsibility.

The brainchild of Randy Cluff, a seasoned local entrepreneur and a 16-year veteran in the North American sustainable energy sector, the KSC was designed as a youth-led resource hub where the community could come to acquire knowledge about solutions, processes and actions that inspire them to embrace change and be part of Kingston’s vision to become Canada’s Most Sustainable City. The KSC and its partners collaborate to deliver an accrued wealth of experience and knowledge for the local community to learn about actions they can take under five focused categories – waste diversion, energy conservation, water conservation, transportation, food and agriculture.

The Canadian Eco-Leader Award was created to celebrate and recognize the great work that Canadians are doing within their communities to create greener, more sustainable lifestyle for themselves, their families, and future generations. Canadians nominated organizations and individuals who best engaged Bosch’s five principles of environmental protection – sustainability, responsibility, products, processes and continuous improvement – within their community-based programs and projects.

The Award consists of a one-time monetary grant of CDN $5,000 that will go towards supporting the program as well as a mentoring opportunity with leaders from both Bosch and the environmental community who will share their expertise and experience on eco-friendly, sustainable business practices and community education.

Please join us in congratulating the Kingston Sustainability Centre!
